Dubai, UAE, 4 January 2016: A delegation from the organising committee of
Dubai Solar Show at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), participated in
the Power Gen International 2015, the world's largest power generation event that
took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The visit promoted the Dubai Solar Show, which will be the largest of its
specialisation in the region, held alongside the Water, Energy, Technology, and
Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016), under the directives of HH Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE,
Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA,
from 4 to 6 October 2016 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition
Centre (DICEC).
The participation included presentations about Dubai Solar Show and Dubai's and
the UAE’s progress with solar energy. The delegation reviewed a number of pilot
solar energy projects in Dubai, particularly the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Solar Park, its construction progress, opportunities to investors, important features of the Innovation Centre, Research and Development Centre (R&D), and the solartesting
facility. The delegation also outlined the advantages of participating in the
Dubai Solar Show, as it coincides with the global WETEX, which will secure quick
growth and presence of international delegations specialising in renewable energy.
“At DEWA, we are keen to participate in various events related to our work with
the aim of exchanging knowledge and expertise in the field of energy, especially
clean and renewable energy that we focus on at DEWA. Events such as Power Gen
International provide important opportunities to review Dubai's current and future
projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest
generator of solar energy in the world from a single location with a capacity to
produce 5,000 MW by 2030, and a total investment of AED 50 billion, and the
Hassyan clean coal plant. The first phase of Hassyan project will generate
1,200MW and will be operational by 2020,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer,
MD & CEO of DEWA.
“By participating in global events, we aim to learn from the experiences of others
and develop the capabilities and skills of our employees, enhance their
communication with their counterparts around the world, enable them to exchange
knowledge and information, and learn about the latest developments as well as
the best global practices. The delegation at Power Gen International promoted
Dubai Solar Show, and succeeded in attracting the attention of significant number
of decision-makers who expressed their desire to participate in the exhibition next
year,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and
Human Resources at DEWA.
Power Gen International was co-located with the Renewable Energy World
Conference & Expo, featuring energy solutions generated by solar, wind, biomass,
hydro, geothermal, ocean, tidal, wave, bio-power, bio-fuels, and hydrogen. The
event attracted around 22,000 power professionals from 90 countries, 200 of the
industry’s top speakers, and with 50 educational conference sessions, with
participation by 1,400 exhibiting companies, networking events, and technical
tours for experts in the exhibition.
