Organising WETEX and DSS 2020 virtually enabled larger participation from around the world

Dubai, UAE, 1 November 2020: Organising the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) 2020 virtually by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) enabled a large number from around the world to visit the exhibition and participate in the panel discussions at the five exhibition halls. The number of session attendees reached 28,000 participants while the exhibition halls held 1,750 meetings.

The virtual 3D carbon-neutral exhibition was the first of its kind in the MENA region. It attracted 1,076 exhibitors from 52 countries and 63,058 visitors from around the world. The Water Hall attracted 45,799 visitors; the Energy Hall had 25,847 visitors; the Innovation Hall had 15,802 visitors; the Sustainability Hall attracted 17,710 visitors; the Main Hall had 33,929 visitors, and the Supplier Relation Management Hall attracted 2,400 visitors. Visitors of DEWA stands (Green Week; Main Stand; Business Development and Excellence; Innovators; Supplier Relation Management) reached 13,213 visitors.

The Halls hosted 102 specialised sessions and panel discussions as well as the latest products by exhibitors over the three-day exhibition. The session ‘Energy Transition in the Middle East’ recorded the highest number of attendees with 585 participants from around the world. The session was presented by Dietmar Siersdorfer, Managing Director of Siemens Energy, Middle East and UAE. The ‘Sharp Displays Innovation’ session by Sukriti Kakkar, Product Manager B2B, Sharp attracted 516 individuals; and the ‘Dubai Energy Management Strategic Vision and Plan’ by Faisal Rashid, Senior Director, Demand Side Management, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, had 388 participants. The success of WETEX and DSS 2020 shows Dubai’s leadership in organising major events and its ability to turn challenges into promising opportunities, in line with the vision and directives of the wise leadership. DEWA provided exhibitors and visitors from all around the world with an exceptional experience to review the latest technologies and developments in water, energy, sustainability, and innovation.

55 local and global organisations sponsored the event, with Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai as the diamond sponsor of WETEX and Dubai Solar Show 2020. Siemens; ACWA Power; ABB; and Hitachi ABB Power Grids were the titanium sponsors. Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) was the strategic media sponsor.
