Local and international companies praise WETEX and DSS as the most significant global exhibition in their annual agenda

Dubai, UAE, 11 October 2021: The 23rd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show attracted several major companies from the region and around the world in water, energy, electricity, environment, oil, gas, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. The exhibition was organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

During the exhibition, the exhibitors presented some of their innovative technologies, services and solutions. The exhibition is the largest for water, energy, sustainability and innovation in the region and one of the largest specialised exhibitions worldwide. WETEX & DSS was held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo 2020 Dubai, from 5 to 7 October 2021, with over 1,200 companies from 55 countries, 61 sponsors, and 10 country pavilions taking part. The exhibition attracted 45,506 visitors from around the world.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said the event was the first exhibition to be organised in the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai. This provided an exceptional opportunity for sponsors, exhibitors, and visitors to be part of the first world Expo in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, and one of the first major events since the pandemic. The UAE, under the wise leadership’s vision, is one of the first countries to start recovering from COVID-19. WETEX & DSS provides an ideal platform for signing deals, creating partnerships between local and international companies. It also enables decision-makers and investors worldwide to meet, sign deals, build partnerships, learn about market needs, future projects, and opportunities to join renewable or clean energy projects in the UAE. WETEX and Dubai Solar Show is a leading global platform that highlights the strong link between sustainability and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, the impact of disruptive technologies, digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and research and development into clean energy and water production.

“We strive to design a new identity for our group by enhancing its positive impact on the economy, society, and environment to keep pace with rapid and unprecedented growth in the renewable energy sector,” said Mohamed Abdelrahman Al Motawie, CEO of Ducab, one of the largest manufacturers in the UAE.

On the strategic relationship with DEWA, he highlighted: “There is a unique collaboration between the group and DEWA that achieves mutual benefits and serves Dubai and the UAE by providing the base for building the future. WETEX is one of our starting points to expand, build strategic partnerships and collaborate with potential customers. Through WETEX, Ducab has succeeded in building several strategic partnerships. From the beginning, we have managed to keep pace with the UAE and Dubai’s vision for renewable energy through the latest technologies.”

Al Motawie said that Ducab is working at the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world with a planned capacity of 5,000MW in 2030, by providing high volt cables and other cables specialised in solar power. Ducab is also working at Barakah nuclear plant. He noted that the efficiency and quality of products produced in the UAE helped the group develop all kinds of cables and export them to nuclear reactors in Korea.

Zafar Ahmed, Operation Manager and Commercial Manager of Jeddah Cables, said that the company strives to participate in every edition of WETEX and DSS to propose its experience for over 30 years in electricity to investors and other interested individuals in the energy sector. The company presents several products, including low volt cables; control devices and cables; overhead cables, medium volt cables until 36 kilovolt and high volt cables until 400 kilovolts. This serves the construction, energy, signals, operation, mobility, communications, facilities, oil and gas sectors. “Jeddah Cables is known for its commitment to the highest quality standards, which are complement by its technical experience, R&D programmes, and manufacturing capabilities that enable it to strengthen and innovate products for sale,” added Ahmed.

“The company participates in WETEX and DSS due to its regional and global importance. Today, the company proposes energy solutions through open-source technology, integrating different systems to create a safe operational environment. The company adopts smaller automation systems and AI, which requires highly accessible systems to maintain operations round the clock. Several factory units can continue operations without pausing for maintenance,” said PR Manager Raza, representing Yukogawa.

Operations Manager Nicholai, representing Baltcotlomach in Russia noted that WETEX and DSS have become an important hub for Asian companies and Russia. Therefore, the company includes the exhibition in its business agenda every year. “The company is proposing several new technologies for disposal of home and organisational waste, including its treatment, which helps in reducing global warming, in addition to replacing fossil fuels with organic waste,” he added.

Operations manager Beni Global at Eurocom said that the exhibition enabled companies and industrial entities to showcase their technical, engineering products and energy solutions worldwide. The company created its schedule for the exhibition by focusing on new solutions first that have prominence in the energy sector. Today, the company provides integrated and high-tech solutions in electricity and energy at large. It provides advanced 3D designs to test them in different operational conditions. This ensures the quality of the product. They also help in the installation and operation of supplied devices that cover all technical specialisations such as civil, mechanical, and electric activities and remote on-site operations.
