Powering Sustainable Mobility: Building the UAE’s EV Charging Ecosystem
As electric vehicles (EVs) gain momentum across the UAE, EtihadWE — in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure — helped establish UAEV, the national EV charging company. This presentation outlines the journey towards a comprehensive charging infrastructure, key technical and operational standards, and how the initiative supports the UAE’s green mobility agenda. It also sheds light on upcoming expansion plans, smart grid integration, and lessons learned in pioneering a nationwide charging network.

Badr Al Awadhi is the Chief Commercial Officer at UAEV, the UAE’s government-owned EV charging operator. With over 18 years of experience across both government and private sectors—including key roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)—he brings a strong track record in commercial strategy, public service innovation, and sustainable mobility. Badr holds an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK and is a graduate of the UAE Government Leaders Program (Qeyadat – Executive Level). He is known for driving impactful partnerships and transformative initiatives aligned with the UAE’s vision for the future.
